My son Wacky has been asking me before, when will he get an award or a medal. He's been looking and wearing the medals I won during my former company's inter-office badminton tournament. Then came his recognition in school last March 31st, he's one of the awardees for "Diligence Award" in which overall he is in 10th placed in their section. Last time I posted here he was in 9th place, just dropped a notch but still OK, he still make it and he got what he's been wanting for, a medal of his own.
Before the recognition day, a week ago, his mom texted me as soon as he arrived home. He said he was excited and very happy when he told his mom that he's one of the awardees and will need to go to school the other week for practice. Since knowing that he's an awardee, I accompanied him for 3 days in school to practice in preparation for their recognition day. Been late to work for 3 days because of that.
The day finally arrived for him to receive his medal, but his mom and Cheska needs to go for Cheska's ear checkup, so they leave earlier to hospital while I let Wacky sleep first. The ceremony commenced on 4:30PM, I woke him at around 3:45PM, we took a quick bath, dressed up and immediately leave the house, arrived at school earlier than 4:30PM. It rained on that day, good thing it was just rainshower but still we need to use umbrella especially for kids who might get sick. Anyways, the ceremony moved on and ended up well. I get to walked Wacky to the isle before they sit and wait for their names to be called. Before that, there are some speech and presentations in which Wacky participated in one of them. I think the title of the song is "Welcome to the family", I took a video of it on my mobile phone and when Wacky borrows my phone he would watch that performance almost each day. After that, it's awarding time, it was almost 6PM when they get to be called and received their medals. Good thing his mom was able to witnessed him going up the stage, as I am the one who placed him his medal and shook hands with the medal presentor. It feels good actually as I was never get to go up in stage to receive an award or medal when I was studying. When we finally got down the stage he's been shouting "May award na ako, may award na ako!". After the awarding, we go to Jolibee to eat his all-time favorite, burger, french fries, fried chicken, spaghetti and ketchup, hehehe.
The other day, we went to my parent's place for a small celebration of my brother's college graduation and my to niece having their own respective awards/recognition in their school.

This will be my year.....
I made a post in facebook account early February of this year which quotes the line "You tell yourself what you want to hear. Cause you have to believe this will be my year....." So they wander, what's that all about? I was just LSSed with that song, yes that was from a song, from Semisonic's "This will be my year" from their very first album "Feeling Strangely Fine". Remember that band that brought us the hit song "Closing Time"? I kinda missed those late nineties alternative/grudge rock era. (Listen to the song and it's message by playing the embedded youtube video below.)
So what does this message really means?
This actually means 2 things, it used to be just one but now I feel there's two, hehehe, since I'm posting blog for this after more than a month.
The first one which was not really what I think of first but I would want to tell first because it's not good was "This will be my year...to DIE" or perhaps "This will be the year...WE ALL DIE", hahaha, remember the 2012 movie, too bad it ain't true. Anyways, I was recently confined in the hospital around 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed first with UTI as they see blood in my urine. It was actually seen much earlier during my company's APE, so what's advised to me was to avoid drinking carbonated drinks and to drink plenty of water daily. I was not really aware of it and simply ignore it until it hit me. Monday morning I feel uneasiness in urinating and starting to have fever, ignoring what I feel, I still went to work. The other day, things didn't changed and still I have hard time urinating and have fever, then again I went to work. The third day, I have decided to go to hospital and take a sick leave from work. At first, I really thought of getting to be admitted in the hospital as I feel I wanted to rest for 3 days. My wish came true, I get to be admitted but it turned out that I have stayed even longer and stayed for 6 days from Wednesday afternoon to Monday morning the other week. There's been some test that have been taken but most of them resulted to negative, turned out they just need to cure the blood from my urine, so they placed dextrose and commonly they just gave me antibiotics, vitamin b-complex and paracetamol to ease my fever as it has not gone down til Friday. Saturday, I was all well and wanted to go home but doctor didn't let me and made me stay and got out by Monday. When we get my medical certicificate, doctor wrote that I have "Fatty Liver"
The original reason that I posted "this will be my year" was I've been receiving some good blessings early this year, like my son being invited to join their academic contest, having my cheap touch screen mobile phone, having read a good news about an opportunity to go to US which was personally confirmed by Kevin when he visited us here in Manila, my computer loan finally got approved after 4 months (which was turned into tiles and stuffs needed in the house, yeah I didn't get to buy my computer loan package that I've wanted, but it's ok) and a whole lot more good things happened for the first two months of this year. By the way, I've already applied for my passport last week and expecting to received it this week, so step 1 of preparation to trip to US is done, step 2 will be applying for visa and by the way we (Jay and I) are scheduled to leave on May 26th so it's quite near and fast approaching.
By the way, an officemate of mine had discovered that I've been blogging, as she found it out listed in my internet browser's favorite. She already knew this blog and broadcasted it to others, so you want a piece of this blog, take a bite, you'll soon read your part, hehehe!
This post was way too long already, I've never write like this for long time since writing essays during elementary or high school days about my summer vacation. Hahaha, it may even compared to one of Tor's (my US team lead counterpart) long email-novela he sent me and my teammates.
Ciao for now!

I read the news today, Oh boy!
A Beatles song "A Day In A Life" goes "I read the news today, oh boy...".
A month ago, I read a news from my company email, the subject reads "US Trip opportunity is in discussion for you". The message was intended to me and Jay (my team lead). So that was the buzzed all about when officemates pass by and would tell "Pasalubong". I was clueless when they're saying that and was not aware when I haven't read the email yet. After reading that email, first thing that come to me was "S***, I don't have a passport yet!" I was planning to have one but not this too early. So now, I really need to apply for it and was scheduled for appearance in DFA on March 20th.

Number 9...Number 9...Number 9...
It was almost 2 months ago but I think it was still good to share, as a proud father of my son Wacky. So why "Number 9...Number 9...Number 9...", first off the title was a ripped off from a Beatles filler song "Revolution 9" from the album "White Album" in which that track started with "Number 9...Number 9...Number 9..." then followed by various sounds and whatsover stuffs on the filler. Moving on, enough of that, this was not really about that filler, it's about my son!
Number 9, Wacky was among the outstanding student in his class "Junior Kinder - St. Anne", he's in number 9 spot in their 2nd grading period. He was not in the Top 12 during their 1st grading period and out of nowhere snicked in to top 9 in 2nd grading period. What's his motivation? Just promised him to buy his desired toy that time, the "HotWheels Wall Track" and a trip to Manila Ocean Park & Star City during the Holiday break. And guess what, it worked! He's in the 9th spot!
He was also been invited to join their school's Academic Contest held on January 24-27 (24th-English, 25th-Math, 26th-Science, 27th-Filipino). Somehow we got disappointed when he got elimated at the first round in all those contest, seems that he was not yet for contest like that. He really needs to work on his concentration on things that he have to do because he has tendency to be destructed so easily in people around him. Nevertheless, I'm still happy with what he had achieved so far, I did not really expect him to make it to the Top 12 in his class and was just asking him to do his best but he did exceed our expectations.
Right now they are already in their 4th grading period, I haven't seen the Outstanding Student list for the 3rd grading period yet because it wasn't posted yet in their bulletin board but we already saw his grades for the 3rd grading period. Sad to say that he dropped a notch in each of his 3 subjects (Filipino, English & Science) but amazingly raised 4 points in Math hence his 3rd grading period average actually increased a point and may lead him to stay on his current spot or rise a bit or even more. So it may not be just "Number 9...Number 9...Number 9...", we'll see... 2 months from now.

MyPhone T23 Duo WiFi Review
It's been a month since I purchased my mobile phone "MyPhone T23 Duo WiFi", a very cheap WiFi ready, touch screen mobile phone from a Filipino-made brand "MyPhone". Is it cheap because it was Filipino made? Is it because of its quality and functionalies? Well I don't care much about that, since this item saved me money from buying those expensive branded mobile phones or to make it short, I can't really afford to buy one of those branded mobile phones ranging from 10K and up!
I'm actually satisfied about this phone though I was not really expecting too much from it but it gives me satisfaction especially in listening to music and watching movies in it. I was actually surprised that this phone can read AVI files unlike other hitech mobile phones. Though I still need to convert my AVI files to MP4 format because I wanted to store more music and movie files in my 2GB miniSD. Oh by the way, miniSD is not yet included upon purchasing this phone. The music quality is great!
Taking pictures and capaturing videos is clear as it has 2MP camera in it. The WiFi is working well, I just don't know why staff from SM can't make it work when I was purchasing it first from them and I ended up buying it from its MyPhone booth within SM Sta. Rosa too. Anyway, I thought I need WiFi functionality but I ended up not really using it even if I am riding a bus with WiFi.
You can also install some Java games in it, downloaded some in UmNet.com but not all of the games I have installed worked, it also have pre-installed games but to they are all in Demo mode and it says you still need to download the whole game.
There are also widgets that you can place in the screen if you want to fill your screen with widget, I haven't really explored all the widget here and was just happy with "Sheep & Butterfly" widget in my screen to which this Sheep sleeps, eat, look around the screen and there is a butterfly that keeps passing by.
One thing that I don't like here is having a hard time typing text messages in QWERTY mode, I think the key was small or perhaps my finger was just big to fit each keys here. I always end up pressing "O" when I wanted to press "P", the "L" instead of the "backspace".
It was really a Filipino inspired phone because the back cover of this phone have Philippine map in it and have various design/color, mine was blue. It also have prayers in it which was a really Pinoy because we are commonly religious but actually I am not, hahaha.
Overall I am really satisfied in this item, it keeps me accompany when I am travelling to work and back to home. It actually gives me the opportunity to watch movies that I have downloaded that I haven't been watched in the house. I actually 1 movie per day using it, that is around 30-45 minutes riding bus going to work and back home. More importantly, it gives me something to do while waiting for my company shuttle to pick me if I missed it and have to wait for another 30 minutes in Forbes Park.
So how much does it cost, I bought it for only Php 2,888.00. Just don't know how much it cost now after a month, hehehe. Super affordable right? And I was able to support our own brand! Amen to that!

The b-sides concept
I thought of this blog's concept last year when I was thinking of something to blog about good stuffs about myself, my kids and everything that I may think worth blogging of like funny stuffs, hilarious incidents... some sort of those. I have wrote other blogs before but was never been active updating them. There are times that I got easily bored, lazy or would think that what I may write isn't the blog should contain of. I guess my concepts before weren't as solid as these one. (hopefully I can keep up on updating this one, hehehe)
I took the idea of b-sides from Eraserheads song "FruitCake" in which a line from this song goes something like "There are b-sides to every story, if you decide to have some fun...", hence this blog may contains fun and happy stuffs or things I can make fun or laugh about myself or others, everything that I may consider sharing or willing share to others.
People who knows me knows that I am not the type of person who shares too much about myself but I guess I can make this blog speak on behalf of me.
So continuing the lyrics of FruitCake goes "take a bite, it's alright!". So go ahead, take a bite, read along, laugh at my barok english and make fun out of me, hehehe. "Life is a piece of cake!"
